FAR AWAY (2026)
“Far Away” (2000) by Caryl Churchill speculative theatre design proposal for the Royal Court in London. The play depicts a chilling world where everyone and everything is at war. I approached the design by setting it in Gothic Victorian England, where industrialisation was in full force and rural areas becoming more abandoned. I focused on nature for Act 1 setting it in a garden and then juxtaposed it with the garden shed built on the skulls of workers turning into the corner of a victorian workhouse in Act 2. Act 3 we return back to Harpers garden but this time the foxgloves are oozing and decaying representing the plays demise a war ridden world with all its poinsnous elements revealed.
